If you are considering a special gift to support the work of AA&MDSIF, we have many meaningful ways to honor someone or perpetuate a family name. Here are some giving opportunities to help you accomplish your philanthropic goals.
Communities of Hope offer the ability to tap into AA&MDSIF support services and community programs to learn from others, share experiences, make new friends, and get involved. Connecting with other patients and families can be a powerful and uplifting experience.
The Online Learning Center provides recordings of educational sessions, interviews with leading medical experts, interactive learning modules and opportunities to participate in LIVE webinar events in areas related to aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).
Patient and Family Conferences provide answers to medical and treatment questions from leading medical experts, sessions on living well and support forums to help patients and their caregivers connect, share, and learn from others. The Saturday regional format makes it easy for family members and caregivers to attend at a time that's convenient to school and work schedules.
AA&MDSIF College Scholarships support young people who, in fighting diseases like aplastic anemia, MDS, or PNH, may have had to interrupt their studies, extracurricular activities and jobs due to their health condition and treatments and whose families find it financially difficult to afford higher education. In recognition of their effort and courage, the Aplastic Anemia and MDS Foundation provides scholarships to undergraduate, graduate, and vocational students.
Contributions also fund medical research to find better treatments and cures for aplastic anemia, MDS and PNH, advocacy for increased federal funding of bone marrow failure disease research, public awareness and education for medical professionals on the most up-to-date information about these diseases, their diagnosis and treatment. Research programs include:
- Named Research Fund for a scientific/medical research project for 2-years for either a new or established investigator.
- Research is Hope Fund - to support aplastic anemia, MDS, PNH or bone marrow failure disease research.
Summer Research Fellowship Program will offer medical students and graduate students, in the biological sciences, the opportunity to engage in research under the sponsorship and supervision of an established principal investigator who directs a laboratory dedicated, at least in part, to the investigation of bone marrow failure at a US academic, medical, or research institution
