Workplace Giving

Organize a Workplace Gathering!

It's easy to do!  Here are a few simple ideas to get you started on what you can do in 2 hours:

  • In 2 hours, you can start off your colleagues' day by providing a simple breakfast of bagels/muffins and juice where you educate your co-workers about bone marrow failure diseases and why you support AA&MDSIF.
  • In 2 hours, you can organize a brown bag luncheon among fellow employees where you or someone from AA&MDSIF can be speaker.  As a treat, bring dessert for your colleagues to thank them for their time.
  • In 2 hours, you can organize a lunchtime walk with your colleagues that kicks off with remarks by you or a guest speaker about AA&MDSIF and why supporting our programs makes a difference.  Ask everyone to wear red and take photos to share, or ask local restaurants you'll walk by to donate gift certificates as door prizes for the walkers.
  • In 2 hours, you can distribute a Bravery bracelet and an AA&MDSIF informational brochure to each of your colleagues telling them why you support us and what their support of AA&MDSIF would mean to you and your loved ones.

AA&MDSIF can provide you bracelets and brochures, posters and talking points, along with links to our Web site and Stories of Hope on YouTube that will help your co-workers understand why their gift makes a difference.

Your Charitable Contribution through your Workplace Campaign also Makes a Difference!

Each year, hundreds of people contribute to AA&MDSIF through their workplace campaign's payroll deduction plan. It's a great way to give a little each paycheck, and this will easily add up to a significant gift - helping AA&MDSIF improve the lives of patients and families fighting bone marrow failure diseases.

Consider how easy payroll deductions make your charitable giving: If you get paid twice a month, and have $25 deducted each paycheck, then your contributions will add up to $600 during the year.  If you get paid once a month, and have $25 deducted each paycheck as a gift, your contributions will add up to $300 in 2012.

If you work for the Federal Government, then you've heard of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) that kicks off each fall in Washington DC and at federal agencies across the US and around the world.  We encourage you to make a gift to AA&MDSIF through the CFC, by indicating AA&MDSIF #10302 on your CFC payroll deduction pledge form. If you work for the California or Maryland State Governments, AA&MDSIF is participating this year in your state employee payroll deduction campaign. Check your local campaign materials for our number, and include us among your charitable organizations of choice for 2012. Currently, AA&MDSIF is not registered in other state campaigns, but if your state campaign allows for write-ins, consider writing us in as: Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation, 100 Park Avenue, Suite 108, Rockville, MD 20850 phone: (301) 279-7202 or info@aamds.org.  If your state campaign does not allow write-ins, then please consider sending your gift directly by check, or making a gift online, to support AA&MDSIF programs and services.
