Leadership in Philanthropy

Brianne Sandborn

Brianne Sandborn, a social studies teacher living in Michigan, was diagnosed with PNH in 2009. In 2015, Brianne founded and chaired the “PNH…Rare But Real” golf tournament in her hometown of Portland, Michigan. With the help of family, friends, and her local community, she has held this golf event in the summer annually. Over the past nine years, this event has raised over $116,000.

Beyond her leading her event, Brianne has also supported the Foundation’s broader fundraising strategy by lending her name and story to the 2024 End of Year fundraising campaign.

Stephanie Vendig

Stephanie Vendig and her family have an impressive history of investing in AAMDSIF for the past 22 years.  Stephanie and her husband, Fred, became involved with the AAMDSIF when he was diagnosed with MDS, and they were relieved to find a sense of control through the help and the resources that her husband found in the foundation.  Fred passed away from complications of MDS in 2001, and Stephanie also lost her mother-in-law and brother-in-law to MDS.
