Dr. Vijaya Raj Bhatt graduated from Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University in Nepal in 2009 with a degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He then went on to do a three-year residency in internal medicine in Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York. During his residency, he was awarded the resident of the year for three consecutive years. After completing his residency, he joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Nebraska and completed his fellowship in hematology-oncology. He has authored or co-authored 127 articles, 18 book chapters and 98 abstracts. He has presented widely at several national and international meetings of professional societies. During his residency, he was awarded the resident physician research award 2010-2011 and the resident teacher of the year award 2011-2012. During his fellowship, he was awarded the internal medicine fellowship research award, 2014. He is also a recipient of 2015-16 and 2016-17 Physician-Scientist Training Program Grant from the College of Medicine, University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is currently involved in research related to hematopoietic stem cell transplant, graft-versus-host disease, leukemia and other malignant and benign hematological disorders. He lives in West Omaha with his wife, Sujana Panta and son, Suvidh Bhatta.
