Angela Smith joined the Department of Pediatrics in July 2008 in the Division of Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplantation and became Director of the Division Blood and Marrow Transplantation in 2019.

Dr. Smith graduated with her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2002. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplantation at the University of Minnesota in June 2008. During her fellowship, she also completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Research: A type of research that involves individual persons or a group of people. There are three types of clinical research. Patient-oriented research includes clinical trials which test how a drug, medical device, or treatment approach works in people.
